About Vause Lake...

Vause lake is part of the world famous Karst Topographic Region of Florida.  This region is known for its many sink hole lakes.  Vause Lake is a "Mesotrophic" - meaning mature lake.  It is an isolated sink hole water body with no organic acids  - which keep it clear.

Commonly found vegetation in and around Vause Lake include Yellow Cow Lily and Burr Marigold amongst others.  Vause Lake is also a refuge and nesting area for the Florida Sandhill Crane and Gopher Turtle.  The Large Mouth Bass is the dominant fish species in Vause Lake.

Major water weed vegetation include Bog Moss and Spirogyra - which is a  slimy filamentous green alga.  Due to abnormal increases in the nutrient levels in Vause Lake, these weeds have become a nuisance species that (if left unchecked) will adversely affect the overall health of the lake.
